Special Procedures:
Ultrasonography- uses sound waves to evaluate soft tissues like tendons and ligaments, reproductive organs, lumps, and tumors. It is painless and non-invasive.
Digital Radiography- uses x-rays to visualize bone for abnormalities including arthritic changes, fractures, ocd, bone cysts and bone infection. Our unit is capable of providing digital images on the farm. These images are viewed on a notebook computer and can be enlarged and windows leveled to see subtle changes often not visible on conventional radiographs. All digital films are reviewed in the office on a medical grade monitor prior to making a final diagnosis.

Endoscopy- utilizes a fiber optic device for evaluating the upper airway of the horse, including the larynx, sinuses and guttural pouches. The trachea and upper esophagus can also be examined with this flexible device. Useful in prepurchase examinations, pneumonias, or reactive (allergic) airway disease.
Ophthalmology- we are one of the few practices to have a slit lamp and a tonopen. The slit lamp permits a detailed examination of the eye and is useful in evaluating all diseases of the cornea as well as providing a high degree of magnification to search for injuries or foreign bodies. The tonopen measures the intra-ocular pressure of the eyeball and is useful in detecting glaucoma and uveitis.

Dentistry-we utilize a power float to provide advanced dental services. This permits the complete evaluation of your horse's mouth with a speculum and light source in conjunction with a special dental head stand.
Platelet Rich Plasma - uses an enriched form of plasma from your horse's own blood which is then injected into injured tendons or ligaments. Plasma is rich in healing factors and aids in the healing process. This procedure is very safe and has limited side effects since the product being used is your horse's own blood.
