Vaccinations
There is no standard vaccination program for all horses. We can evaluate the risk of disease based on anticipated exposure, environmental and geographic factors, and the age, breed, and use of your horse. Good management practices are essential in addition to vaccination in order to prevent infectious diseases. We are happy to design a vaccine program tailored to your situation. Core vaccines are those vaccines that every horse in the United States should have. These vaccines include Eastern & Western Encephalomyelitis, Tetanus Toxoid, West Nile Virus, and Rabies. Risk based vaccines are those vaccines recommended based on risk of exposure and environment. Some areas of the country are endemic for certain diseases. Risk based vaccines include Flu (Influenza) and Rhinopneumonitis (Herpesvirus), Potomac Horse Fever, Strangles, and Botulism.
